Overview

Woolacombe stretches for over three miles of pristine golden sand backed by rolling dunes, consistently rated among Britain's best beaches. The vast expanse provides excellent conditions for surfing, family activities, and beach sports, with lifeguard cover during summer months. The combination of space and facilities makes it suitable for all ages and interests.

Dogs face seasonal restrictions on the main beach from May to September but are welcome year-round on northern and southern sections, providing substantial exercise areas. The beach's size means even restricted areas offer considerable space, while off-season access is unlimited. The dunes behind provide additional walking opportunities and shelter from Atlantic winds.

Three large car parks accommodate thousands of vehicles but fill rapidly during peak periods. The village provides comprehensive facilities including shops, restaurants, cafés, and accommodation. Water sports equipment hire is readily available, while the award-winning beach facilities include toilets, showers, and first aid. The location provides access to the Tarka Trail and South West Coast Path, while nearby Morte Point offers dramatic cliff scenery and historical interest.
