Overview

Meadfoot is a split beach, with a shingly eastern end and a sandier western end backed by beach huts. It's quieter than central Torquay beaches and framed by woodland and rocky headlands. Parking, beach huts, toilets, and a café are available above the promenade. Dogs are welcome on the rocky eastern half all year, though they are restricted from May to September on the main sandy stretch. The water is clear and suited to swimming, but deepens quickly. Exposed to easterly winds, it can be choppy in poor weather but remains sheltered most of the time.

The beach forms part of the Agatha Christie Mile, as it was one of the author's favourite swimming spots in her youth. Access is via Meadfoot Sea Road with pay-and-display parking available. The beach connects to the South West Coast Path, providing access to dramatic cliff walks towards Hope's Nose. The woodland behind includes parts of the historic Daddyhole Plain area, offering elevated views across the bay.
