Redgate Beach

Redgate Beach

Torbay · Mixed beach
Dogs welcome all year
No dog restriction applies: Torbay Council states dogs may use every Torbay beach from 1 October to 30 April, and Redgate is on neither its 1 May to 30 September exclusion list nor its all-year list. Access is the real issue. The footpath to the beach has been closed since a rockfall and the council's own Geopark assessment recommends investigating its re-opening, so the beach is not readily reachable on foot.

Overview

Redgate Beach is a beautiful mixed sand and shingle beach on Torbay's coastline, offering excellent accessibility for visitors and moderate access for dogs with seasonal restrictions. This picturesque beach features soft sand areas and fascinating rock pools, but dogs have restricted access with seasonal limitations, so visitors should check local signage for current dog access policies before visiting with their pets. The beach offers spectacular views across Torbay and provides a peaceful environment, but dog owners should be aware that access may be limited during peak seasons. The excellent accessibility makes it suitable for visitors of all ages and mobility levels, while the varied terrain provides opportunities for exploration when dog access is permitted.
