Overview

Minehead Seafront combines traditional seaside resort character with excellent access to Exmoor National Park, creating a unique destination offering both beach and moorland experiences. The beach provides firm sand and pebble areas with good facilities, while the town serves as the starting point for the South West Coast Path's 630-mile journey to Dorset.

Dogs face restrictions between the harbour and Golf Club Groyne from May to September, but are welcome on other sections year-round. The nearby Warren provides excellent alternative dog exercise areas when beach restrictions apply. The town's position at Exmoor's edge means outstanding walking opportunities within minutes of the beach.

The railway station serves the heritage West Somerset Railway, providing steam train access during operating seasons. Large car parks serve the town and beach, while comprehensive facilities include shops, restaurants, and traditional seaside amenities. The proximity to Exmoor provides immediate access to some of Britain's finest walking country, while attractions include Dunster Castle and the West Somerset Railway. The South West Coast Path provides spectacular cliff walking towards Porlock and beyond.
