Overview

Clovelly Beach sits at the foot of one of Britain's most famous villages, accessible only by the cobbled street that drops 400 feet from the village to the harbour. The small pebble and shingle beach provides a unique setting beneath the dramatic cliffs, with traditional fishing boats adding authentic character. The village above represents a perfectly preserved piece of medieval England.

Dogs are generally welcome year-round on the beach itself, though the challenging cobbled access requires consideration. Fit dogs and owners can manage the steep descent and ascent, but the unique setting rewards the effort. The harbour area provides interesting exploration opportunities for curious dogs.

Access requires either walking down the famous cobbled street (challenging but historic) or using the Land Rover service for a fee. Parking is available at the top of the village with admission charges applying. The village provides limited refreshments and shops, while the historic buildings and maritime heritage create a unique atmosphere. The location provides access to coastal walks and the nearby Hobby Drive offers spectacular valley views.
