Peaked Tor Cove

Peaked Tor Cove is a tiny and often overlooked inlet, accessible at low tide by foot from Torquay's marina. Surrounded by cliffs and woodland, it feels surprisingly remote for an urban spot. There are no amenities and the steep, slippery path deters most visitors, so it stays quiet and is suitable for well-behaved dogs year-round, but not ideal for families or sunbathers. Water is clear and good for a wild swim if you come prepared. The cove requires scrambling over rocks at low tide and careful attention to tide times for safe access and exit. The limestone geology creates interesting rock formations and pools. The nearby marina area has undergone significant development since the Victorian era, but this small inlet retains its wild character. The harbour's maritime heritage includes connections to the fishing industry that once thrived in the area.
