Par Sands Beach

Dog-Friendly Beach in Cornwall

Par Sands provides one of Cornwall's most generous dog-friendly beaches, stretching for over a mile of fine sand with year-round access for four-legged visitors. The wide expanse becomes vast at low tide, creating excellent space for ball games and exercise even during busy periods. The south-facing orientation provides good sunshine, while the backing dunes offer shelter and additional exploration opportunities. The consistently dog-friendly policy makes this extremely popular with pet owners throughout Cornwall and beyond. The firm sand provides excellent running surface, while the gentle slope into shallow water suits dogs that enjoy swimming. The nearby holiday park ensures good facilities while the size of the beach means it never feels overcrowded. Access is straightforward via the A3082 between Fowey and St Austell, with large car parks directly behind the beach. The surface can be rough and potholed, so sturdy footwear is recommended. Basic facilities include public toilets and a café, while the nearby china clay works provide an interesting industrial backdrop contrasting with the natural beach environment. The location provides easy access to other south Cornwall attractions including the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan.
