Crow Point

Dog-Friendly Beach in North Devon

Crow Point offers a unique coastal experience at the tip of a sandy spit extending into the Taw and Torridge estuary, providing completely different character from North Devon's Atlantic-facing beaches. This National Trust location offers extensive sand dunes, mudflats, and estuary views with exceptional wildlife watching opportunities. The location provides excellent walking across varied coastal habitats. Dogs enjoy excellent year-round access across the entire area, making this one of North Devon's premier dog-friendly destinations. The combination of firm sand, dunes, and estuary exploration provides outstanding exercise opportunities. The area never feels crowded and offers unlimited off-lead exercise across the extensive natural environment. Access requires a walk across the toll road from Appledore or via footpaths from Instow, adding to the sense of adventure. Facilities are minimal due to the wild nature, requiring visitors to be well-prepared. The location provides exceptional birdwatching, particularly during migration periods when thousands of wildfowl use the estuary. The area offers spectacular sunset views across the estuary to the North Devon coast.
