Broadsands Beach

Dog-Friendly Beach in Torbay

A long, sweeping sand beach with rolling green hills behind, Broadsands is accessible, with a large car park, café, toilets, and deckchairs for hire. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May to September, but are welcome on the adjacent coastal path and grass parkland. The bay is shallow and often calm, drawing families and paddleboarders in fair weather. The railway viaduct behind adds character. Can be exposed and breezy, and busy in the school holidays. The impressive railway viaduct dates from the Dartmouth and Torbay Railway's extension towards Kingswear, built in the 1860s. The beach connects to the South West Coast Path, providing access to excellent coastal walks towards Elberry Cove and beyond. The large car park makes it one of the most accessible beaches in the area, with good facilities for day visitors. The shallow, safe water and lifeguard cover in summer make it particularly popular with families.
