Anstey's is a quiet and relatively wild shingle beach surrounded by high cliffs and woodland. Parking is available some distance away, so be prepared for a steep descent. There is a small seasonal café and toilets. Dogs are allowed throughout the year. The water here is very clear and often flat, popular with wild swimmers, but there is no lifeguard. Loose stones underfoot make the shore less ideal for sunbathing, but it's one of the most tranquil, natural-feeling spots around. Access is via a woodland path from the Anstey's Cove Road car park, making the journey part of the experience. The cove sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms part of the South West Coast Path network. The clear waters and sheltered position make it popular with snorkellers and divers exploring the underwater rock formations. The surrounding woodland provides habitat for various bird species and offers shaded walks.
